PictureDay ’95 is built so portraits stay under your control.
As If!
PictureDay ’95 doesn’t use generative AI or upload your portraits. Cutouts stay on your device: Apple’s person segmentation on iPhone, Google’s MediaPipe selfie segmentation on Android. We only composite the retro print locally.
That is on-device person/background separation — not image generation, and not a cloud model that invents or rewrites your face.
The 411
- Camera frames when you take a main or profile portrait
- Photos you choose from your library
- On-device cutouts and the finished composite (laser backdrop, profile layer, effects, date stamp)
All of that runs on your phone. Segmentation and compositing do not require a network connection.
Home Base
- In memory / app cache while you compose (temporary)
- Your Photos library only if you tap Save
- Another app or person only if you tap Share and complete the system share sheet
Temporary mask and export files in the app cache are removed as soon as they’re no longer needed (after the cutout is loaded into memory, and after a successful save or share) when possible.
Talk to the Hand
- No account or sign-in
- No upload of your portraits to AdultEdTech / PictureDay servers
- No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs in this build
- No advertising identifiers collected by this app

iOS and Android show system prompts the first time each capability is used. You can revoke access in Settings.
Off Campus
The in-app About screen may open external sites in a browser:
- Pexels (demo photo credits and license)
- Buy Me a Coffee
Those sites have their own policies. Opening them does not send your portraits from PictureDay.
Free Samples
Sample portraits ship with the app so you can try Compose immediately. They are attributed in About and are not your personal photos.
